I'm incredibly proud of what we created yesterday. Our industry is blessed with a very special moment."That is a wrap" is when tiredness forgets itself for a second, big smiles come to people's faces, and everyone feels proud of their craft. Our industry is not all celebrities, fancy videos and flowers.Saying it's tough can sound privileged. At the end of the day, we just create videos. But to make videos we dream of, it often means we've to:- Be underpaid as f*ck- Work extremely long hours- Deal with egos more frustrating than a tough work environment"That's a wrap" doesn't mean the end of the project, but in a way, it does when professionals are involved.Sure we still have edits, VFX, revisions, colour grading and more to do.Yet, seeing the result of 30-40 people's hard work, their passion for their craft, and their positive energy on screen is unmatched.Excited to share that with you when it's out!P.S. Do you have a special moment in your work process where you pause for a second and feel immensely proud of yourself?

I’ve just ticked over the three-month mark at Prodoto Commercial Photographic Studios Ltd. 🎉Here’s 3 things I’ve learnt working alongside highly creative people: 1️⃣ Creatives are perfectionists… and I like that! Everything is produced to the highest possible standard, and anything less is not an option 🙅2️⃣ Creatives make things look easy when they’re really not! I’ve seen behind the curtain, and there’s no end to the complexity happening backstage to deliver the final production 👏3️⃣ Creatives aren’t afraid to push their own boundariesNew ideas, new tools, new approaches, if it improves the end product they’ll explore 🚀 Creatives out there, let me know if you relate? 👇

Early into the BZAM brand overhaul, I decided I wanted to feature more animation. In keeping with the ‘cut & paste’ aesthetic of the brand I also wanted to make sure the animation didn’t break the fourth wall, so it had to be a ‘little shitty’ (on purpose!). Frame animated gifs were perfect for this, as they added a little extra interest while still feeling appropriately dated. The ultimate expression of this approach might be the BZAM homepage, (iwanttobzam.com). Animation is used as an element of the information hierarchy in the hero image, category headers, and in rollover states. Even though the effect is simple, it activates the site and creates a more unique impression. Also, it just looks cool :)

New Post: Marvel’s superhero movies are no longer guaranteed box office blockbusters as the movie industry hits ‘an inflection point’ - Spielberg’s comments caused a widespread stir at the time. “Avengers: The Age of Ultron” was then one of the year’s biggest movies. The following year would bring “Captain America: Civil War,” “Deadpool” and “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The superhero movie was in high gear, and showing no signs of slowing down. But Spielberg’s point was that nothing is forever in the movie business. These cycles, Spielberg said, “have a finite time in popular culture.” And the maker of “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park” and “Jaws” might know a thing or two about the ebbs and flows of pop-culture taste. As 2023 draws to a close, no one is sounding the death knell of the superhero movie. The Walt Disney Co.’s“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”made $845.6 million worldwide and Sony’s“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”($691 million) was one of the most acclaimed films of the year. Marvel is still mightier than any other brand in the business. But more than ever before, there are chinks in the armor of the superhero movie. Its dominance in popular culture is no longer quite so assured. A cycle may be turning, and a new one dawning. For the first time in more than two decades, the top three movies at the box office didn’t include one sequel or remake: “Barbie,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Oppenheimer.” The last time that happened was 2001, when “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Shrek” and “Monsters, Inc.” topped the box office. No, it’s not exactly a lineup of originality like, say, 1973, when “The Exorcist, “The Sting” and “American Graffiti” led all movies in ticket sales. “Barbie” and “The Super Mario Bros.,” based on some of the most familiar brands in the world, will generate spinoffs and sequels of their own.But it’s hard not to sense a shift in moviegoing, one that might have reverberations for years to come for Hollywood.“There’s an inflection point in 2023,” says Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for data firm Comscore. “Barbenheimeris just one part of that story. Audiences, they want to be challenged. I think the tried and true is not necessarily working.”Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,”from Warner Bros., was the year’s runaway hit, with more than $1.4 billion in ticket sales worldwide. It was a blockbuster like none seen before: an anarchic comedy that set a string of records for a movie directed by a woman.Nearly as unprecedented was the success ofChristopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,”a three-hour drama that nearly grossed $1 billion. As different as it and “Barbie” were, they were eachoriginal feats of cinemaand personal statements by its directors. At the same time, the Walt Disney Co.’s Marvel, a hit-making machine lik

This video was created for a landscaping company with 95% captured on the DJI Air 2 and 5% on the iPhone 15. This video is a reflection of my evolving creative journey.Though I rarely post my work publicly, especially with the growing presence of AI in the creative world, I believe it's important to share your art occasionally. Typically, I keep my content limited to snippets, screenshots, and behind-the-scenes moments, but this project is an exception. For the first time, I ventured into customizing the sound design. I layered a collection of carefully curated samples to craft an immersive atmosphere. In my opinion, sound design is the unsung hero of impactful storytelling, and I’m committed to mastering it just as much as the visual aspects of my work. When it comes to the visuals, I see myself as a choreographer, drawing out the beauty in every motion before me. Each frame is a dance, and I am the artist, capturing movement and grace in their purest form. I hope to eventually acquire an FPV drone for a new perspective & more experiences.Enjoy the experience! 🙂

#careertip TuesdaySo, you want to be an Art Director?Tip No.22 - Maintaining art style vs. inventing one.In your line of work you might experience two, completely different, situations when it comes to the ability of defining an art style of the project:A. The simpler one would be when the game is a completely original project and you get full freedom of creating the visuals for it. Roll up your sleeves, sit down with your core team and discuss your ideas for what it can look like. Gather up a bunch of reference pictures - be it photographs, original concept art or screenshots from other games (yes, we do that A LOT) - and start organizing the material and refining the vision. Challenge yourself and your concept art team with ideating and delivering one or more ‘key visuals’ that would represent the visual pillars of the project so every piece of art created for the game could be compared against them and checked for consistency. It’s simple but not easy, just keep on checking whether all the elements come nicely together and in the style you’ve agreed upon and you’re golden. B. The other end of spectrum would be a project within an already established franchise with a recognizable art style. Sure you would have a released game/-s to deduct the franchise’s visual pillars from but, in an ideal scenario, there would be also Art Bible defining the style and reasons for it so you don’t have to ‘reverse engineer’ what is important to the IP when it comes to visuals. Once you learn it it’s the same process basically - you create ‘key art’ for the new game, spread the word about what is important to you (actually keep repeating it until the very end of the project, you’ll know why immediately once you stop doing it) and start the production. Both of those situations have their perks and challenges but in the end it’s two very similar processes. While developing your own vision is a lot of fun, in some conditions, working within the boundaries of an established IP can boost your creativity by finding ways to incorporate your ideas into a defined art style. Both are fun and can be equally satisfying, just let your creative juices flow!Image credits: Warner Bros. Pictures, a Time Warner Entertainment Company, 1999
